This Global Job Prospects and Applicants Privacy Notice explains how Jazz Pharmaceuticals plc and its corporate subsidiaries and affiliates including GW Pharmaceuticals companies (collectively “Jazz Pharmaceuticals”, “we”, “us”, “our”) processes personal information (i.e. any information that could identify an individual either directly (e.g. name) or indirectly (e.g. a unique ID number)) in connection with recruitment and pre-employment activities. It explains how we collect, share and use your personal information, and how you can exercise your privacy rights.
For the purposes of UK, Swiss and European data protection laws, Jazz Pharmaceuticals is acting as the data controller of your personal information either independently or jointly.

What personal information do we collect about you?
We collect and process various types of personal information in connection with recruitment and pre-employment activities when you apply to an open position, you are contacted for or express interest in employment with us such as by joining our Talent Community or you attend a recruitment event. This information generally includes:
- Identifiers/Contact Information – name (including prefix or title), gender, age or date of birth, personal or business email, mailing address, telephone number, social media profiles, and in certain instances identification documents, residency and work permit status, social security number, or other taxpayer/government identification number;
- Professional information and experience – professional qualifications, prior employment history, education history, additional information included in your curriculum vitae, and references;
- Interview Information – notes collected by our interviewers, and other professional assessment information;
- Pre-employment screening – If we want to offer you the job, we may need to complete pre-employment screening. We may then also collect additional background information such as credit history, criminal records and occupational health information (if permitted by law);
- Financial information – past remuneration and benefits (such as salary amount, bonus, stocks, options, insurance, retirement account information, company allowances). We will also collect your bank details if we reimburse you for expenses during the recruitment process;
- Sensitive (special) personal information (where permitted and in accordance with applicable law) – social security number, driver’s license number, racial or ethnic origin, trade union membership, veteran status, health and medical information (including where required, drug screening results), sexual orientation, and/or criminal history.
In many instances, the provision of the sensitive (special) personal information listed above is voluntary. If you decide not to share these with us, please be assured this does not affect your application.
You can also choose not to give us the other types of personal information when we ask you for them. If you decide not to give us your personal information, we may not be able to assess or consider your application.
If you give us the personal information of another person, e.g. your spouse/partner or referees, we assume you have their permission to share their data with us.
We will not process personal information (including any of the information listed above) if the law of your country prohibits us to do so.
How do we collect your personal information?
We collect your personal information from a variety of sources.
In most cases we will obtain information directly from you when you:
- Create an account and profile in the Jazz Pharmaceuticals careers portal;
- Share or use your social media profile to access the Jazz Pharmaceuticals careers portal;
- Sign up with us to receive open job postings;
- Share your resumé with us, either via the Jazz Pharmaceuticals careers portal or through other means;
- Join our Talent Community; and/or
- Participate in meetings, interviews or other recruitment activities including industry networking events.
We may also collect your personal information from alternative sources including:
- third party service providers assisting us with recruitment and pre-employment activities (e.g. employment or recruitment agencies, background check providers);
- your colleagues and/or managers when they give us reference;
- publicly accessible sources (such as professional social networks, job boards, websites, social media and other digital platforms).
How do we use your personal information?
We may process your personal information for the different purposes set out below or for purposes which are reasonably compatible to the ones described. We cannot, and will not, use it for other purposes without your permission, unless we have a legal right or obligation to do so.
Please note that where required by law we will obtain your consent. Where the collection or use of your personal information is based on your consent, you may withdraw your consent at any time to the extent permitted by applicable law.
- Job Applicant assessment : Based on our legitimate interests in evaluating and selecting suitable candidates and managing the job application process effectively, we use your personal information to assess your qualifications and suitability for the job position you applied for. We also use your personal information to respond to your application, conduct interviews, check your background and references and conduct cognitive tests or personality assessment or other suitability evaluations (where permitted by law), fitted to the corresponding open position.
- Pre-hiring process (Onboarding process) : In order to perform precontractual measures, we may use your personal information to adjust a recruitment offer and prepare contractual documents, to set up your arrival (IT, etc.) and to prepare your onboarding.
- Managing and improving recruitment process : Based on our legitimate interests in managing and improving the recruitment process effectively, we may process your personal information to manage our network and information systems security; keep records related to our hiring processes; measure the recruitment process against our aspirations on adhering to fair employment practices; prepare and perform management reporting and analysis related to the recruitment process and when we offer you the possibility to provide feedback on the recruitment process.
- Talent pool management : We also offer the possibility for job applicants and other potential candidates to join our Talent Community and subscribe to newsletters about future opportunities. In such case we process your personal information based on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- Comply with applicable laws, legal obligations and/or protect our legal interests : We may process your personal information to respond to legal requests from administrative or judicial authorities; to comply with applicable laws, in particular regarding employment, social security, and immigration; and for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims.
Please note that, where permitted by law, we use sensitive personal information collected for pre-employment screening if we decide to offer you employment, to evaluate Jazz Pharmaceuticals progress in achieving its diversity hiring goals, to ensure equal opportunity monitoring and reporting, to meet legal obligations, including providing workforce accommodations, and for disability and workplace safety tracking administration.
With whom do we share your personal information?
Your personal information may be shared with individuals within Jazz Pharmaceuticals who are involved in the recruitment and pre-employment processes or who will help with the administration of our Talent Community.
We may also need to share your personal information as follows, but only to the extent necessary:
(i) to third-party service providers who assist us with recruitment and pre-employment screening activities;
(ii) to other specialized third-party service providers who work with us such as event and travel agencies, technology suppliers helping us to develop and improve our digital forums and apps; and professional advisors such as auditors, accountants and lawyers;
(iii) to fraud prevention agencies and law enforcement agencies;
(iv) to courts, governmental and non-governmental regulators and ombudsmen;
(v) to any third party that acquires, or is interested in acquiring, all or part of Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ assets or shares, or that succeeds Jazz Pharmaceuticals in carrying on all or a part of its business, whether by merger, acquisition, reorganization or otherwise; or
(vi) as required or permitted by law, including to comply with a subpoena or similar legal process or government request, or when Jazz Pharmaceuticals believes in good faith that disclosure is legally required or Jazz Pharmaceuticals has a legitimate interest in making a disclosure, such as where necessary to protect Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ rights and property.
When do we transfer your personal information outside your home country?
Given the global nature of Jazz Pharmaceuticals' activities, your personal information may be transferred to countries located outside your home country or region, including to countries that may not have data protection laws equivalent to those in your home country. In such a case, we will implement appropriate measures to protect your personal information in accordance with the applicable data protection laws.
For example, if you are located in the European Economic Area (“EEA”), the United Kingdom (“UK”) and Switzerland, we may transfer your personal information to the United States or other countries outside of the EEA, UK or Switzerland. For the transfer of personal information from the EEA, UK or Switzerland to any countries not recognized by the European Commission, UK or Swiss governmental authorities as providing an adequate level of data protection according to EEA, UK or Swiss standards, we have implemented adequate measures to protect your personal information, such as by ensuring the recipient is bound by standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission, UK and Swiss governmental authorities.
All Jazz Pharmaceuticals’ entities have entered into an Interaffiliate Data Processing and Transfer Agreement including Standard Contractual Clauses to govern the transfer of personal information within Jazz Pharmaceuticals from the EEA, the UK and Switzerland to other countries including the United States.
How do we protect your personal information?
The security of your personal information is important to us. We take reasonable steps, including technical, administrative and physical safeguards, designed to protect the personal information submitted to us from loss, misuse and unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration and destruction. However, no method of security or method of transmission over the Internet is entirely secure. You should always use caution when transmitting personal information over the Internet.
How long do we keep your personal information?
We may retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed for the recruitment and pre-employment activities we have explained in this Privacy Notice. In some cases, we may be required to retain information for a longer duration to comply with laws or regulations or other legal obligations, resolve disputes and enforce our agreements.
In some jurisdictions, laws and regulations tell us how long we must keep your personal information. How long depends on the laws of the jurisdiction you are in when you share the information with us.
If we offer you work, and you decide to accept, we will send our Employee Privacy Notice to you. The Employee Privacy Notice explains how we use, store and protect the personal information of our employees.
What are your rights regarding your personal information?
You may have certain rights under local applicable data protection laws which may be subject to limitations and/or restrictions. These rights may include the right to: (i) request access to and rectification or erasure of your personal information; (ii) obtain restriction of processing or to object to processing of your personal information; and (iii) the right to data portability.
If you created a Workday account in connection with your application, you can access, correct or request deletion of your personal information by logging into your Workday account. When you submit a request regarding your personal information, we reserve the right to verify your identity to help ensure that we provide the information we maintain to the individual to whom it pertains and allow only those individuals or their authorized representatives to exercise rights with respect to that information. Additionally, a person authorized to act on your behalf may make a verifiable request related to your personal information. If you designate an authorized person to submit requests to exercise certain privacy rights on your behalf, we will require verification that you provided the authorized person permission to make a request on your behalf.
If you feel your rights have been infringed as a result of the processing of your personal information in non-compliance with applicable data protection laws, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.
